Kara loves to walk around Lake Austin with her husband and friends. She also loves the sport of rowing because her son-in-law rowed for Washington University. Kara has spent a year collecting photographs of rowers practicing in preparation of this original painting. She was also inspired by my landscape instructor, Melanie Morris, Austin artist Lisa Beaman and my frequent walks around Lady Bird Lake.

Lady Bird Lake was once called Town Lake. It was renamed after the former first lady due to her concentrated efforts to clean the lake and its surrounding areas. It is estimated that the 10-mile trail that goes around the lake is visited by more than 2.6 million people a year and it is considerd Austin's most popular recreation area.
