The Artist: Kara Manza
Kara Manza’s artwork is described as joyful. Her use of vibrant palettes, expressive brush strokes and a fanciful style have been influenced by her life of travel and adventure. She grew up in Port Huron, Michigan, attended the University of Michigan and married her college sweetheart, Bob, whom she has been married to for 37 years. Kara currently resides in Austin, Texas after being an elementary school teacher and enjoying an adventurous life as an expatriate for 13 years in Madrid, Spain; Monterrey, Mexico; Toronto, Canada; Mexico City, as well as living in Michigan, Texas (4 times!), Connecticut and California. Upon retirement, Kara began taking painting classes at The Contemporary in Austin, as well as with the Kara Bullock Art School and Melanie Morris Art.
Kara has been inspired by her father, Terry Henline, who is a retired automotive designer for General Motors after having studied at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. He is also a Signature Member of the National Watercolor Society.
She loves her family first and foremost, which includes her husband, two adult daughters and son-in-laws, as well as a rescue standard poodle, Mulligan, who was adopted from Doodle Rock Rescue in Dallas, TX.
Kara is passionate about volunteering and has donated artwork to silent auction benefiting the Helping Hand Home, Mainspring School, the National Kidney Foundation, the Kamukamu Learning Foundation, supporting children in Uganda, and JDRF to fight type 1 diabetes (T1D).
