Birthday Toast at The Roosevelt
Inspired by a friend’s evocative bar scene and painted from a candid moment during my husband’s birthday celebration, this piece captures the cozy elegance of one of my favorite Austin spots—The Roosevelt Room. While sipping a cocktail, I noticed a darling couple seated at the bar, lit beautifully by the glow of shelves lined with glass and spirits. They kindly allowed me to snap a photo for reference, and this impressionistic painting came to life from that brief but golden encounter. I love how the light dances across their shoulders, touches the bartender in motion, and shimmers through the countless bottles—a moment both ordinary and extraordinary, now forever captured on canvas.
