This piece came from a place of quiet contrast — glow against darkness, warmth against solitude. Whisky and Smoke is a moody Merri Mini that captures a simple but evocative scene: a lowball glass of whiskey, lit just enough to reveal its deep amber hues, with a cigar resting gently across the rim. The smoke trails into shadow like a whispered thought.
I painted this with deliberate restraint, letting the darkness take the lead. The highlights are minimal, meant to suggest more than they show — an atmosphere more than a narrative. It’s a piece that invites pause. Maybe even a pour.
