Merri Mini #197: “Gilded Flutter”
Transforming a moment of flight into a treasure of color and joy
Some paintings feel like a whisper of spring—the kind that catches your breath and makes you pause. Gilded Flutter is one of those. This Merri Mini, the 197th in my ongoing collection of joyful, expressive small works, features a vibrant pink and green butterfly in mid-flight, its wings touched with pops of teal and yellow. A shimmering gold perimeter frames the piece, adding a subtle elegance, with hints of gold delicately woven into the butterfly’s wings.
I love how this one turned out. It feels alive and full of possibility—like a symbol of change, grace, and quiet strength. Butterflies always seem to arrive in moments when we need a reminder that beauty can emerge from transition.
As with all my Merri Minis, Gilded Flutter was painted with heart and intention, using layers of acrylic and expressive brushwork to capture not just the image, but the feeling of lightness and movement.
