This portrait of my nephew, Andrew, is a study in light, shadow, and the quiet power of presence. I leaned intentionally into strong contrasts—allowing light to illuminate one side while deep shadows shape the other—creating a sense of drama and depth that reflects both his strength and individuality.
Andrew holds a special place in our family story. During our years living in Mexico, he stayed with us twice for internships, and those seasons were filled with laughter, adventure, and unforgettable moments. This painting carries more than his likeness—it holds the warmth of shared experiences, the ease of family, and the joy that naturally surrounds him.
Through bold light and shadow, I wanted to capture not just how he looks, but how it feels to know him: grounded, dynamic, and deeply loved.
