Figurative Mini No. 3
On a quiet Sunday morning hike, my daughter and granddaughter paused in the woods — forehead to forehead, completely unaware of the world around them. Just breath, warmth, and belonging.
This piece began as a Mother’s Day gift, inspired by a simple photo that held so much more than it first revealed. What moved me wasn’t the setting — it was the closeness. The way a mother bends instinctively toward her child. The way a child leans back without hesitation.
In this figurative mini, I kept the brushwork loose and luminous, allowing the trees to soften into atmosphere so the connection remains the focus. The painting feels intimate, but not staged — like you’ve stumbled upon something sacred and quiet.
These minis have become a meaningful way for families to preserve small, fleeting moments — a walk, a hug, a glance — the kinds of memories that might otherwise live only on a phone.
If you’ve ever had a photograph that makes you pause, this format is a gentle and beautiful way to transform it into expressive art. No rush. Just when the moment feels right.
